The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority plans to modernize and upgrade the approximately 282,000-square-foot Terminal 2 East (T2E) at San Diego International Airport through a collaborative design-build delivery method. The project will enhance the passenger experience and improve passenger flow and security screening efficiency while maintaining continuous terminal operations throughout construction. Key improvements include renovation and expansion of the ticketing hall and central security checkpoint, phased replacement of the main concourse and 11 gates, upgraded holdrooms, new restrooms and concessions, and expanded airline support spaces. The project is anticipated to receive Board award for the validation phase in Summer 2027, with construction expected to begin in early 2029, subject to environmental approvals and other Authority considerations.
